Course DescriptionsCourse Title: Photography CP
Course No.: V01116 Length of Course: 1 year Grade Level: 9-12 Prerequisite: none Fulfills UC/CSU Requirements: Yes Semester Periods of Credit: 5 Meets District Graduation Requirement: Arts This class is designed for students to effectively use a digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) and edit photographs using Photoshop. Students will capture images by selecting f-stops, ISO and shutter speeds for any given situation. Students will learn camera parts and operations, how to adjust contrast, apply the principles of visual design, use studio lighting equipment and learn about the history of photography. Emphasis is placed on basic camera skills and creativity during the first semester, followed by Fine Art and business skills during the second semester. This course is taught through SCROC (Southern California Regional Occupational Center). Students are recommended to have a three-ring notebook, 16 gigabyte (GB) USB flashdrive and be able to order digital photographs during the first and second semesters from a photo lab service (Costco, Staples, etc.). Course Title: Photography Advanced Course No.: V01117 Length of Course: 1 year Grade Level: 10-12 Prerequisite: Photography CP Fulfills UC/CSU Requirements: No Semester Periods of Credit: 5 Meets District Graduation Requirement: Arts This course will build on the foundations established in Photo CP. Students will continue to develop a creative personal style while learning better exposure, flash, lighting and business skills. A variety of projects will be introduced to broaden the photographer's personal and professional skill-set. Students will create a portfolio of artwork useful when applying for college, internships and/or employment. Students are recommended to have a notebook, 16-gigabyte (GB) USB flashdrive and be able to order digital photographs during the first and second semesters from a photo lab service (Costco, Staples, etc.). |
